FOUR SEMI-FINALISTS SELECTED FOR ST. PAUL CITY SCHOOL EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR POSITION

St. Paul, MN— The St. Paul City School Board has selected four semi-finalists to interview for the school’s executive director position. The semi-finalists are:

  • Eric Fergen, Interim Executive Director, St. Paul City School, MN

  • Chai Lee, Associate Principal, Sun Prairie West High School, WI

  • Benjamin Magras, Executive Director of Leadership and Learning, Intermediate District 287, MN

  • Justin Tiarks, Principal, St. Paul City School, MN

The semi-finalists were selected from a pool of applicants based on criteria established by the board and input provided by stakeholders through a survey. The school board has scheduled interviews for the semi-finalists beginning at 4 pm on Tuesday, April 9, and Wednesday, April 10, 2024. 

All interviews will be held at the St. Paul City School, 215 University Ave. W., St. Paul, MN 55103. The meetings are open to the public.

st. paul city school is searching for a new executive Director

The Board of St. Paul City School District is conducting a search for a new executive director. The Board of Directors contracted with the Minnesota School Boards Association (MSBA) to guide and provide assistance throughout the process.

The Board of Directors met on February 1, 2024, to plan the search. An important part of the search process is gathering stakeholder input for the Board to consider as it moves forward in selecting the new executive director, and here are two ways you can engage in the search process:

1. EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR SEARCH SURVEY
An anonymous public survey is now available for all stakeholders to fill out between February 7 – March 4, 2024. Click here to complete the St. Paul City School Executive Director Search Survey. The survey is available in both English and Spanish, and hard copies of the survey in both languages are also available at the district office in St. Paul. Please return any completed surveys to these same location by March 4 so they can be included with the online survey results. Following the survey deadline of March 4, MSBA will summarize and provide an overview of the responses for presentation to the School Board.

2. VIRTUAL QUESTION/ANSWER SESSION WITH MSBA
To ensure all district stakeholders have access to accurate information regarding search processes and expectations, MSBA will host a virtual Q&A with MSBA at 3:30 pm on Thursday, February 22. All stakeholders are invited to attend the live session; however, to accommodate busy schedules as well as ensure access to search information, the session will also be recorded and made available on the district website for the remainder of the search.
